I’ve been asked to try out and review a product on this blog for Niki Adams at Uniqi Productions. Niki is based near Rugby and makes a range of natural, organic soaps, balms and cleansers using herbs, spices, flowers and other natural ingredients. Having recently expanded her range to include Paw Protector balm for pets, who better to review the new product than a dog walker whose dog spends lots of time out on his paws every day!
Fellow dog walkers will be only too aware of the extra mud, water and general dirt that is on the ground in winter but did you know that the chemicals used to deal with the cold weather can actually be damaging to your dog and cat? Salt used to melt ice on the roads, de-icer used on windscreens and anti-freeze used in cars all contain chemicals that can not only make your dog or cat ill if they ingest them but can also irritate and in some cases burn their paws. Seeing as my dog wouldn’t take too kindly to my putting him in booties for the winter months, the best solution is a paw protection product such as wax or balm.
Enter Uniqi Paw Protector. A delicious smelling tin of solid balm made with beeswax, coconut oil, calendula and shea butter, it is designed to protect your pet’s paws while also being good for their skin. Rupert my dog loves the smell and is very patient with me while I rub his paws in the tin (which, by the way, is the perfect size to get a paw in to). The skin on his paws and pads is still in great condition despite the poor conditions. As it’s very waxy, it repels moisture which keeps the paws clean of any nasty chemical liquids and I have peace of mind that, even if he decided to lick it all off, it will do him no harm as all the ingredients are dog-friendly and organic!
All in all, I’m very impressed with the product and would highly recommend it. Check out the Uniqi Facebook page at dogswww.facebook.com/uniqiproductions
